According to a survey by CNBC and SurveyMonkey, remote workers are happier with their jobs than employees who show up to the office.  Remote workers are also more likely to work full-time and earn more money.  If you’re interested in working from home, here are some good entry-level remote jobs and how much they pay.

Claims processor

Entry-level claims processors work in the insurance industry and are responsible for handling claims.  Their responsibilities include verifying insurance information, doing data entry and deciding whether to approve or deny a claim.  Most insurance companies prefer someone with a bachelor’s degree and provide on-the-job training.

Average salary: $16.36 per hour

Customer service representative

As a customer service representative, it’s your job to help the company maintain a good relationship with its customers.  You’ll be expected to answer questions, promote products, provide instructions, and resolve any issues that pop up.  To be successful, you need excellent communication skills, patience, a good attitude, and strong problem-solving skills.

Average salary: $14.38 per hour

Graphic designer

Graphic designers help businesses communicate their ideas visually.  It’s their job to plan and design graphics for websites, brochures, logos, advertisements and more. Many graphic designers have a bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related field.

Social media specialist

A social media specialist creates content for a company’s Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms.  The goal is to get the businesses name out there and get people engaged.  Social media specialists share relevant content, schedule posts, communicate with followers and attend influencer events. Employers usually require a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or marketing.

Tutor

Is there a subject that you know like the back of your hand?  If so, consider getting a tutoring gig.  Tutors work with students outside of the classroom to help them pull their grades up or get ready for a big exam.  They identify where a student is struggling and prepare lesson plans to help them get better.

Virtual assistant

Virtual assistants are remote workers who provide administrative support to businesses.  They manage schedules, arrange meetings and travel plans for employees, answer phone calls, respond to emails, send newsletters and more.  The ideal candidate has strong organizational skills, good communication and is proficient in Microsoft Office.
